Departing from the top of the 'Mayen' gondola, the trail starts directly with a steep ascent up the 'Cheminée' ski slope to reach the 'Crêtes de Thyon'. At this point, the first 300m of positive variation in altitude have already been covered. The next part of the trail runs along the mountain ridges, in a magnificent aerial setting. You climb on to each mount of the chain, each time a little higher: the Mont Carré 2468m, the Mont Rouge 2490m, easily recognized by its red earth and cross, the proud Mont Loéré 2578m also decorated with a cross, and finally the Greppon Blanc pass at 2671m in altitude. It is possible to climb to the summit to appreciate the magnificent viewpoint. Then your descent commences towards the Meine mountain pasture where cows of the Hérens breed graze peacefully during the summer months. You reach Thyon via the 'Ancien Bisse de Chervé' along a gentle descent. First you go along the the Meine marsh, then pass by 'Les Chottes' restaurant, a former cow shed charmingly transformed into a restaurant. For this final part of the trail the path is easy and pleasant.
